Chair Massage I

Course description:

Basic techniques of chair massage and a "15-minute" chair massage routine is demonstrated and practiced. Chair massage can be offered on-site at offices, health food stores, marathons, schools, etc.  This class is a prerequisite for Chair I-A.

Chair Massage I-A:  Basic Enhanced Skills

Course description:

Fine-tune the basic chair routine; emphasize proper body mechanics; learn chair trigger point therapy; marketing skills for retail locations or private parties.

Chair Massage II:  Enhanced Skills

Course description:

Introductions to Myofascial Release, Pin and Stretch and Active Stretching in the chair; learn how to create balance; marketing for office gigs and special events; additional/alternative strokes for: legs, feet, low back (sitting and standing), spine, shoulders, arms, hands, neck, and head; learn headache tricks, blindfolded chair massage, full body chair massage; five-minute chair massage. If students already have purchased a chair, it is recommended that you bring your own chair.

Chair Massage II-A:  Advanced Enhanced Skills

Course description:

This class offers new dynamic, techniques to use with your clients sitting upright in the massage chair, offering them more of a full body session not limited by the forward, face down position normally used with the massage chair. These includes numerous, upright techniques for the pecs, torso and neck, with a little more emphasis on the connective tissue (fascia). Students will also get to learn routines for a regular armless chair and the Desktop Massage chair. These techniques can be used when there is limited space or even with someone in a wheelchair.

Chair Massage III:  Focus on Fascia

Course description:

Learn how to do a quick body reading for structural imbalances; enhance strokes learned in Chair Massage II and II-A to release the fascia; learn dialog to educate clients; use myofascial release to create a structural balance.

Chair Massage III-A:  Fascia Enhanced Skills

Course description:

Learn how to deepen the connection with clients fascially; learn body assessment with soft gaze to see beyond the client’s symptoms; learn new myofascial release techniques unique to the position in the massage chair.

Chair Massage IV:  Beyond Fascia Technique

Course description:

Learn to focus more on looking further into the mind-body-spirit; learn how to direct chair massage towards fascial releases, including unwinding; learn how to adapt fascia concepts to develop your own style.
