Deep Tissue Fundamentals

Instructor:  Eloise Albrecht

6 Hours      $99

Class description:

Deep Tissue massage is a broad term that encompasses both specific techniques and a different perception of the body.  The techniques have names like neuromuscular, myofascial, trigger point, proprioceptive, etc. The perception skills of the deep tissue massage therapist are more educated, focused and specific.  The techniques are only tools, however.  The primary question is 'Do you have the awareness to use them accurately?'

The Fundamentals class will introduce the themes of present-centered awareness, cellular consciousness and creating and holding space for transformation.  We will talk about the cellular connection of all cells in the body, and the unity of mind, body, thought and emotions.  We will discuss boundaries and emotional release and how a therapist can use both language and quiet to assist that process. These themes will be re-visited in each Deep tissue section, as we get specific in how to touch individual body parts.

This is basically a lecture class.  There are some hands-on
exercises and movement explorations.  We will not need to disrobe for table work, although students should bring a bottom sheet.  No lubrication is needed.  Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Prerequisite for:  All Deep Tissue classes

Required materials:  Twin bottom sheet
