TACTILE MASSAGE Instructor: Mandy Newberry
20 Hours
$245.00
Class Description: Tactile massage is a modality that can be used on
all clients but is crucial to understand for clients with mobility
impairments and paralysis. These clients can include infants, geriatric,
pregnancy, or those who have chronic or terminal disease. Tactile massage is
all about the intention the therapist holds during the session. Intention
embraces 1) the client’s safety, 2) the client’s comfort, and 3) the
therapist’s presence. Through role-playing we will explore the techniques of
eye contact, moving and working slowly, and being respectful. Tactile massage is a gentle touch that does not
apply pressure to the muscles or joints, but rather through gentle effleurage
and petrissage movement, or simply holding a hand and being fully present
with a client for a set amount of time. How the tactile massage actually
unfolds has to do with the client’s condition. We will explore creative alternative positions of
both client and therapist. Also discussed are the anatomical and
physiological changes that take place in geriatric and pregnant clients. This class offers experienced therapists yet
another avenue to best help their clients. Required Materials: Pen Paper Water Pillows (minimum of three) 1 blanket For Testimonials Click Here For
